Rodney McAree’s Swifts side sit third in the Premiership table. Dungannon Swifts manager Rodney McAree has indicated that his team must enhance their performance significantly during the latter half of the Irish Premiership season to secure their present top-six standing in the league. The Stangmore Park club, scheduled to visit Ballymena on Saturday, currently occupies a strong fourth position in the table, having accumulated nine wins and three draws from their initial 19 matches of the campaign. The league structure mandates a division into a top six and a bottom six for the concluding five series of games, following the completion of 33 fixtures by all participating clubs. Regarding the challenge of maintaining a position in the upper half of the table, McAree remarked, “It’s going to be a huge ask even from the position we are sitting in.” He further elaborated, “We understand how hard we’ve had to work and what we’ve had to put into all those games to try and get results out of them so we know we’ll probably have to work even harder now in the second half of the season as if clubs have underestimated us they’re certainly not going to underestimate us from now on.” He continued by emphasizing the necessity for ongoing improvement: “So we’re going to have to do better again, keep improving, keep getting better, play better and compete better if we’re going to continue it on.” The Swifts’ manager commended his players for sustaining their form throughout the initial four months of the term. McAree reflected on the team’s consistent performance, stating, “You thought after a few matches you were sitting in a good position, you wonder can you keep it going, and again after 10 games, and we’ve probably kept it going now for 19 games which is huge credit to the players.” He also mentioned that his primary objective upon returning to the club was to ensure the team competed in every match: “The one thing I asked them to do at the start of the season was to compete in every game and that was probably my sole focus when I came back to the club.” Post navigation All Blacks XV Secures 38-24 Victory Over Munster in Limerick Oxford United Coach Buckingham Acknowledges Wilder’s Impact
