An individual suspected of people smuggling, sought by German law enforcement, is facing extradition proceedings following his apprehension in Leicestershire. Mohamad Alshater, a 30-year-old Syrian national, was sought due to his alleged participation in an organized group accused of transporting numerous migrants into Germany from the Czech Republic using vehicles, according to the National Crime Agency (NCA). Subsequent to a collaborative investigation conducted by UK and German authorities, an arrest warrant was issued for him. He was discovered residing in the Frog Island area of Leicester and taken into custody on Monday, as stated by the NCA. Mr. Alshater has been held in custody and is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday for a hearing concerning his extradition. Officers from the National Extradition Unit, which is part of the NCA’s Joint International Crime Centre, located him, the authority confirmed. Tony Allen, representing the crime centre, stated: “People smuggling is an international crime and we are working closely with our counterparts in Germany and across Europe to target the individuals and networks involved.” He added: “These crime groups treat people as a commodity and don’t care about the risks, which is why tackling them is such a priority.” Post navigation Kennesaw, Georgia: A City Where Gun Ownership is Mandated by Law Redcar Public Toilets to Introduce Charges Due to Anti-Social Behavior
