A Member of Parliament representing Surrey has voiced criticism regarding road construction at a roundabout situated off the A3, characterizing the resulting traffic problems in the vicinity as a “shambles”. Ben Spencer, the Conservative MP for Runnymede and Weybridge, identified traffic congestion as an issue specifically around the Painshill roundabout, located on the A245 in Cobham. These construction activities are being carried out as part of a more extensive project at junction 10 of the M25 and the A3, close to Wisley. National Highways issued an apology and announced that the primary slip road from the A3 northbound carriageway would remain closed until the conclusion of November. Dr Spencer informed BBC Radio Surrey: “It is an ongoing problem and I think it is an absolute shambles and a disgrace what has been happening.” He noted that lane closures and alterations to the road layout implemented earlier in the year had affected individuals transporting children to their exams and continued to create difficulties for families commuting to and from Feltonfleet School. The MP further stated that local residents were “tearing their hair out”. To enhance traffic flow on the A245, the A3 slip road originating from the northbound carriageway was shut down. Dr Spencer, who holds the position of shadow minister for science, innovation and technology, commented: “The A3 M25 works and improvements are going to make a big difference to the safety of the junction and to traffic locally.” He emphasized: “But we have to be able to survive while that work is being done.” A spokesperson for National Highways stated: “To ease traffic flow in the area, we’ve also changed the sequencing of the traffic signals on all sides of the Painshill roundabout to favour the flow eastbound on the A245. ” The spokesperson concluded: “We apologise for the inconvenience this is causing.” Post navigation Kent County Council to Vote on Closure of Two Children’s Centers Medical MPs Advocate for Assisted Dying Bill in Parliament
