Surrey Fire and Rescue Service has issued a public appeal for assistance to enhance the Christmas experience for children hospitalized during the festive season. Until December 19, Reigate Fire Station will operate as a collection point for new toy donations. These contributions are intended for distribution to children at East Surrey Hospital, with any surplus items being directed to other local children’s services. The objective of this initiative is to deliver festive joy to male and female children ranging in age from newborns up to 16 years old. Contributions can be delivered to Reigate Fire Station daily from 09:00 to 21:00 GMT. In adherence to hospital regulations and to ensure equitable distribution, all donated gifts must be new, remain unwrapped, and exclude money, food, or perishable goods. Watch commander Cameron Cornish stated, “We’re encouraging the community to come together and support this wonderful cause. Let’s make sure every child has a gift to open this Christmas.” He added, “By donating, you’ll help make a difficult time in hospital a little less stressful for these children, while also supporting our NHS colleagues who are working hard to care for them during the festive season.” Follow BBC Surrey on Facebook and on X.
