Students from Bluebell Park School in Kirkby, Knowsley, are preparing to launch their own temporary Christmas retail outlet. This week, the pupils will occupy a shop unit situated in the town centre. According to Headteacher Michelle Slater, the merchandise available will feature Christmas gift sets, scented candles, and phone charms. Proceeds generated are intended to support additional enterprise initiatives within the school. Slater stated: “The students have been really busy with researching and developing the products they would like to sell and I really look forward to people coming along to support them next week.” A spokesperson for the school indicated that the temporary retail space, located on St Chad’s Parade, is designed to educate students on business operations and entrepreneurial principles. All earnings from sales will contribute to financing programs such as the Duke of Edinburgh scheme at the institution, which caters to students with severe and complex learning needs across early years, primary, secondary, and post-16 educational stages. The establishment will operate from 10:00 until 14:45 GMT, commencing Monday and concluding on Friday, 6 December. This temporary shop initiative succeeds the school’s Purple Tuesday event, held on 12 November, during which students and staff occupied the shop premises for one day. Purple Tuesday is an initiative that assists organizations in enhancing the customer experience for individuals with disabilities and their relatives.
