A march advocating for women’s safety in Lincoln saw the participation of hundreds of individuals. This “Reclaim the Night” event was orchestrated by The University of Lincoln Students’ Union. Those involved proceeded from the Brayford Pool campus, traversing the High Street, an area known for hosting numerous city clubs and bars. Amelia Hinton, an organizer of the event, stated that its purpose was to increase awareness. She remarked, “I think it’s been an ongoing problem for many years, I don’t think it’s anything new.” Hinton further explained, “This is why we’re coming here to keep raising it because it is an ongoing issue.” She concluded, “While the voices are getting quieter, the problem is not.” Abigail Finbow, a participant in the march, recounted an incident where she was approached by a man on the university campus on a Saturday afternoon. She described the experience as having left her “shocked.” Finbow stated, “He did try to grab me,” adding, “I did have to run away from the situation but now, confronting it with me and my friends, we’re now more aware of things like that.” She further commented, “I’m a little bit more nervous now with people walking behind me. “I don’t really like it if someone’s sort of following me in the street because I’m a bit scared of it happening again.”
