Storm Darragh has caused widespread disruption throughout the country, with its 90mph winds leading to power outages, uprooted trees, and the cancellation of events and travel. On Friday, the Met Office issued a rare red weather warning for approximately three million people in parts of Wales and south-west England, signifying the imminent expectation of dangerous, potentially life-threatening winds. While that specific warning has now concluded, yellow and amber alerts remain active, as wind speeds could still reach up to 70-80mph, and the risk of structural damage, fallen trees, flying debris, and large waves continues to be high. According to the National Grid, tens of thousands of individuals have been left without electricity. Additionally, a number of events and attractions, including Christmas markets, sporting fixtures, and all Royal Parks, have already been cancelled for today, with millions advised to stay at home.
