Train passengers traveling between Exeter, Barnstaple, and Okehampton are facing service cancellations due to track flooding caused by Storm Bert. Great Western Railway (GWR) reported that significant rainfall had affected the line between Crediton and Yeoford, with disruptions expected to last until at least 12:00 GMT on Wednesday. GWR stated that once the River Yeo’s water level recedes, divers would be required to inspect one of the railway bridges over it for potential damage. The company confirmed that replacement bus services were operational, and travelers could also use their tickets on local Stagecoach buses. A GWR spokesperson indicated that trains would be unable to operate over the bridge until it had undergone inspection. They further noted that train services are currently restricted to running solely between Exeter St David’s and Crediton. A taxi shuttle service will be provided to connect Exeter St David’s and Okehampton. GWR explained, “As trains have not run along the line for a few days an empty train will then be sent along the line to examine for any fallen trees or damage, once that is done, and if nothing is found, we will be able to start running our timetabled service.” The company added, “We do not expect this to be until midday at the earliest.” Post navigation Welsh Ferry Port Closure Diverts Lorry Traffic to Southern Scotland Northumberland Line Passenger Service Confirmed to Begin December 15
