Luke Gleeson, a stalker who made more than 1,000 calls to his victim’s place of employment in a single afternoon, has been sentenced to prison. Police reported that Gleeson “continuously abused and tormented” a woman in her 20s from Bicester through phone calls, emails, and social media platforms, from late April until mid-September. The 37-year-old, residing in Worrall, Sheffield, pleaded guilty to one count of stalking involving fear of violence at Oxford Crown Court. He received a two-year jail sentence on Tuesday. Detective Constable Sophie Smith of Thames Valley Police stated that Gleeson “displayed no concern nor care for the victim’s wellbeing”. She added, “Stalking is life-altering crime, and I hope the outcome of [the] court proceedings demonstrates to the public that we, the police, are taking these crimes seriously and will do everything in our power to assist any victims seeking help.” An indefinite restraining order was issued against Gleeson, prohibiting him from contacting the victim.
