Enhancements are planned for access to a railway station located in Staffordshire, forming a component of a broader town centre transformation initiative. The scheduled upgrades for Stafford station encompass an increase in disabled parking spaces adjacent to the building, road resurfacing operations, and an expanded short-stay car park. These works, slated to commence in January, constitute a segment of a comprehensive project aimed at revitalizing sections of the town centre. The entirety of this project secured funding from the government, following an application submitted by the borough council. Councillor Rob Kenney commented that these works represent “another piece in our jigsaw of transforming the town”. Separately, renovation efforts for Market Square within the town commenced in January, as part of a £1m restoration program. As part of the ongoing town centre developments, the Guildhall Shopping Centre and the former Co-op department store, situated on the adjacent Gaolgate Street, are scheduled for demolition.
