St Mirren footballer Kevin van Veen has appeared before a court, facing a charge of domestic abuse. The 33-year-old did not enter a plea at Hamilton Sheriff Court concerning the allegation of engaging in a pattern of conduct abusive towards his partner or ex-partner. The proceedings have been adjourned until 28 November. The Dutch forward joined the Paisley-based club in the summer on a loan deal from FC Groningen, having previously played for Kilmarnock and Motherwell. He was absent from his club’s match on Wednesday against St Johnstone, attributed to an injury. Earlier in the current month, Shaun Rooney, another player from St Mirren, departed the club through mutual agreement after facing an assault charge stemming from an incident at a Glasgow takeaway.
