St Bernard dogs are typically recognized for their role in assisting individuals in snowy environments; however, circumstances reversed when firefighters were called upon to rescue one of the breed from a roof under icy conditions. A spokesperson for the Essex County Fire and Rescue Service reported that a neighbor observed the dog stranded “on the icy, slippery roof” of a Pitsea residence. The animal had reportedly exited through a small window while its owners were absent. A fire crew from Corringham arrived at 10:10 GMT. They positioned a ladder against the roof and employed treats to gently guide the dog back through the open window. Firefighters subsequently secured the window. Watch manager Geoff Wheal stated: “This was a great example of teamwork to bring the situation to a safe conclusion. The dog was understandably frightened, but with patience and a few treats, we were able to guide him back inside without any harm.” Post navigation Derbyshire Choir Leader Concludes 26-Year Tenure Nuneaton Carnival Canceled Amid Volunteer Shortage, Chairwoman Calls Decision “Horrific”
