Rail passengers journeying from the South West to London have been advised to anticipate service interruptions following the Christmas period. Great Western Railway (GWR) confirmed that engineering work is scheduled to take place between December 27 and 29. Spokesperson James Davis stated: “There will be significant engineering work which will essentially close our route between Reading and London Paddington. “Trains from the South West – Devon and Cornwall – will be diverted from Reading towards London Euston – a train an hour.” In an official statement, GWR explained that the planned disruption is necessary to facilitate construction on the new HS2 station at Old Oak Common in west London. Furthermore, Network Rail will be conducting improvements to the track, signals, and overhead wires located between Reading and Paddington. Mr. Davis also issued a caution regarding increased train occupancy as individuals travel to visit loved ones. He advised: “Our trains are really busy this time of year so please do only bring what you can carry onboard.”Airline style luggage is much more preferable to massive suitcases. There’s only really limited space on board for much bigger items.” Post navigation West Yorkshire Road Closure Persists Due to Sewer Damage Liverpool Considers £2 Nightly Visitor Charge
