Early indications of Christmas have emerged across Somerset. Our weekly collection of images features Santas on ice, Bath city centre adorned with festive touches, the return of racing at Taunton, and the completion of a distinctive church project. Santas on Ice: The Clarks Village shopping outlet in Street hosted an event on Thursday evening with the aim of setting a new record by having more than 142 “skating Santas” on the ice simultaneously. While 157 Santas are believed to have participated, the team awaits confirmation of a new record. Party Bus: Four young musicians from Glastonbury have named themselves 3SEVEN6, inspired by the 376 bus service. Charlie Chamberlain, 26, Harley Kingham, 22, Hayden Salter, 24, and Josh Herridge, 28, are scheduled to perform aboard the bus during Glastonbury’s illuminated carnival. Mr Chamberlain has notably had the numbers 376 tattooed across his stomach. It’s beginning to…: The Christmas tree outside Bath Abbey is now illuminating the city’s evenings as November draws to a close and December approaches. The city’s renowned Christmas market is also imminent. Down the back straight: Riders were observed heading towards the finish line during Thursday’s meeting at Taunton Racecourse, set against an autumnal backdrop. Tin Church: Edithmead Church, situated in Stoddens Lane, near Burnham-on-Sea, is commonly known as “The Tin Church” and dates back to 1919. The community assisted in gathering £11,000 for the repair of the old building’s roof and the repainting of its exterior. Church treasurer Maureen Phillips commented: “People love the building because it’s always been there for their whole lives. It’s a familiar thing.” For updates, follow BBC Somerset on Facebook and X. Story ideas can be submitted via email or WhatsApp at 0800 313 4630. Copyright 2024 BBC. All rights reserved.
