Hannah Roberts, residing at Nettleton Road, Gloucester, received a prohibition against wearing wigs following her repeated attempts to conceal her identity during multiple theft incidents. A Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) was issued to Roberts at Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court earlier this month. The court was informed that Roberts, aged 33, consistently disregarded a prohibition imposed by the City Safe Scheme, which barred her from entering participating shops in Gloucester. Despite her efforts to circumvent this ban by utilizing various wigs, her unique neck tattoo allowed city shop staff to identify her. Reports indicate that when confronted by either store personnel or security officers, Roberts would become abusive and flee with items she had stolen. The CBO stipulates that Roberts is forbidden from entering Gloucester city centre and any establishments that are part of the Gloucester City Safe scheme. Furthermore, she is barred from wearing any wig or hairpiece intended to alter her appearance when entering any retail location. PC Andy Plant, a member of Gloucestershire Constabulary’s Vulnerabilities Team, stated that the retail industry is “suffering” due to “persistent shoplifters.” PC Plant further commented, “Roberts has been the top shoplifting offender in the last few months and we now have another tool to deal with her in the shape of this Criminal Behaviour Order.” He concluded, “We will continue to support our businesses in the city and its surrounds by targeting shoplifters and obtaining further orders at court where possible.” Readers can follow BBC Gloucestershire on Facebook, X, and Instagram, or submit story ideas via email or WhatsApp at 0800 313 4630.
