Matthew Shevlin, a striker for Coleraine, expressed his conviction that his team will continue to improve, stating they are only going “from strength to strength,” following their 4-1 victory over Dungannon Swifts. This season, Shevlin has now achieved a total of 10 goals in the Irish Premiership. Shevlin contributed a hat-trick, marking the first instance this season that Coleraine, also known as the Bannsiders, secured consecutive league victories. The forward also indicated his belief that the team is beginning to coalesce under the management of Dean Shiels. He conveyed to BBC Sport NI, “We’re only going to go from strength to strength that is back-to-back wins and we’ve bought into what Dean wants to do.” He further explained the team’s initial challenges, stating, “We’re a brand new team and we’re new to full-time football so it was never going to click straight away.” Reflecting on the match, he added, “Dungannon are a quality side, so we knew it was going to be a tough test. Thankfully we got ahead and then they pegged us back with a quick goal, but we responded with great character and put the game to bed.” The 25-year-old player also expressed satisfaction with his contribution to the victory, scoring a treble, which he acknowledged had been anticipated for a considerable period. He elaborated, “I had a good performance last week with two goals and I just wanted to come in today and keep the momentum going so delighted with the three points and three goals is always a bonus.” He also revealed, “I said to my girlfriend recently that it’s been two years since I scored a hat-trick, so I put that right today.” Post navigation Glenn Irwin Declares Retirement from Road Racing Everton Manager Sean Dyche Faces Scrutiny Over Christmas Fixtures
