Sheffield Wednesday’s manager, Danny Rohl, has stated that the team has made a “huge step forward” this season, yet he aims for better results in home fixtures. The Owls have secured only three victories in their nine Championship matches played at Hillsborough. An opportunity to enhance this record will arise when Preston North End visits on Saturday at 12:30 GMT. Wednesday’s remarkable comeback victory against Derby last Sunday marked their fourth away win. Rohl expressed a desire for this successful away form to translate into their performances on home ground. “Of course we want to win home games but coming back from 1-0 down [at Derby] shows a lot about our mentality and belief,” Rohl informed BBC Radio Sheffield. He added, “It showed our fitness and willingness to run until the end and we have eight games in four weeks [until 1 January] so it will be a tough time.” In comparison to the previous season, where the Owls had accumulated only seven points after 18 games, their current 2024-25 campaign shows significant improvement. Following seven wins, they have increased their points tally by 18, placing them 12th in the table, five points shy of the top six positions. “We have 25 points which is a huge step forward,” Rohl further commented. He noted, “Clubs that had 25 points last season – some went up and some down. It’s up to us which direction we want to go.” Rohl described Preston as a team “fighting for everything and a good pressing team” but viewed the upcoming match as “a big opportunity to take the next three points and gift it to our home fans.” Post navigation The Recent Performance Challenges of Manchester City and Arsenal Aberdeen and St Johnstone: Match Statistics Summary
