Rebecca Moore, a 25-year-old sex worker, has been found guilty of murder in connection with luring a 24-year-old man to his death. Ms. Moore, of Springvale Walk, Sheffield, acted as “bait” to entice Sacad Ali to Sheffield’s Ponderosa, where he was fatally stabbed by rival drug dealers in March. A jury at the city’s crown court returned the guilty verdict on Monday. She is set to be sentenced alongside two teenage boys, aged 16 and 18, who previously admitted guilt to murder and possession of an offensive weapon on 25 November. The jury had previously heard that in the early hours of 9 March, Ms. Moore contacted Mr. Ali under the guise of wishing to purchase crack cocaine and offer her services as a sex worker. During their meeting at The Ponderosa, she transmitted several text messages to a phone line used by the boys, making them aware of Mr. Ali’s movements. It was revealed that the teenagers, whose identities are protected due to their age, had been involved in operating a drug supply line and decided to attack Mr. Ali “to stop him from selling drugs in their area.” A witness described observing the boys holding knives towards Mr. Ali, who shouted “please leave me alone” before he was fatally stabbed. Moore denied any responsibility for his death, but the jury delivered a guilty verdict after deliberating for three hours.
