The Jeffrey Harrison visitor centre, a popular attraction within the Sevenoaks wildlife reserve in Kent, is scheduled for closure to undergo a £2.1 million refurbishment. The Kent Wildlife Trust stated that the centre, which draws thousands of visitors annually, requires modernization. Commencing December 15, the facility will be inaccessible for a period of six to eight months while improvements to accessibility and energy efficiency are implemented. James Davis, the visitor centre manager, commented: “Once the works are completed, we will be better positioned to reach a wider audience and help more people connect with nature.” Plans for the upgrade incorporate the establishment of an educational area designed for use by schools and families. Mr Davis added: “Providing a space where everyone of any age and particularly young people can learn about wildlife will inspire them as they grow into the future decision-makers who will shape our country”. Funding for the renovation has been secured via a charitable business loan, as reported by the trust. The wildlife reserve itself will continue to operate during the construction period.
