The weekly market in Sevenoaks, Kent, is scheduled to relocate to the town centre for a six-month trial period beginning in December. The Wednesday market, currently situated in a car park adjacent to the bus station, will be moving to the High Street. Stall holders have actively advocated for this change, citing the High Street’s increased pedestrian traffic. This move was made possible after businesses located in Market Square, which previously utilized outdoor tables and chairs, agreed to remove them when their pavement licences were renewed in September. Sevenoaks District Council stated that this initiative would also free up 76 parking spaces in Buckhurst 1 car park, which served as the market’s previous location. Irene Roy, cabinet member for cleaner and greener, described the situation as a “win-win.” She commented: “We’ve listened to the traders and decided to move the market in time for the important Christmas trading period.“Traders should have more custom in this central location and visitors on market days should find it easier to park. Other retailers in the town should also feel the benefit with more shoppers on the High Street.” Post navigation Alcohol Licence Approved for Former Pub Site in St Neots Midlands Post Offices Face Closure Amid National Restructuring
