A rescue operation successfully extracted seven individuals who had become stranded by the rising tide on an island causeway. The incident, which occurred just before 15:00 GMT on Thursday, involved two vehicles becoming trapped on the Holy Island crossing in Northumberland. Personnel from the Howick, Seahouses, and Berwick Coastguard Rescue Teams responded to the scene. The Seahouses RNLI also deployed but was subsequently stood down as the tide began to recede. Rescue officers navigated the water to reach the seven stranded individuals and utilized an inflatable sled to transport them to a designated refuge hut. Both the rescued individuals and their rescuers remained within the hut until conditions allowed for a safe departure. According to a spokesperson for the Berwick Coastguard Rescue Team, “Multiple teams worked together during this incident.”
