An “external IT failure” has necessitated the closure of a secondary school. Budehaven Community School, situated in Bude, Cornwall, reported that it had “experienced a complete breakdown of our internet, registration and telephone services” and was consequently “unable to safeguard our pupils” until its external provider rectified the system issue. The institution, which encompasses both a secondary school and a sixth form, indicated its intention to collaborate with its provider to resolve the problem, confirming it would remain closed until the fix was implemented. In a statement, the school issued an apology “for any inconvenience caused by this external issue, but safeguarding our children is our number one priority”. It further elaborated, “Closing school is always last resort, but in this instance, it is the only option”. The school announced that students would be assigned work through online platforms and expressed its anticipation of reopening on Friday.
