An additional man has faced charges following the evacuation of a tower block in Clydebank, which occurred after the discovery of a “suspect item”. Residents of Overtoun Court were instructed to vacate the building on 28 October, subsequent to law enforcement personnel making the find during their inquiry into the death of a 58-year-old man. Specialist bomb squad officers later performed a controlled detonation of the item, and a 26-year-old man subsequently appeared in court regarding a firearms offence. Furthermore, a 41-year-old man has also been charged with a firearms offence related to the incident and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday. Some neighbours were compelled to remain in a nearby community centre overnight, while others spent the night in local hotels. The event led to the closure of the adjacent Dalmuir train station, causing cancellations for trains operating through the station. Police Scotland affirmed that there “was nothing to suggest” the suspect item was linked to the death they were investigating in the area, which took place on 17 October.
