Sean “Diddy” Combs is facing an accusation in a recently filed lawsuit, alleging he dangled a woman from a 17th-floor apartment balcony during a dispute. This legal action, initiated in Los Angeles by fashion designer Bryana “Bana” Bongolan, claims the event occurred in 2016 at the residence of Mr. Combs’ then-partner, Casandra “Cassie” Ventura. This lawsuit joins over two dozen others that accuse Mr. Combs of various transgressions, such as sexual assault, administering drugs, intimidating witnesses, and inflicting physical harm. Furthermore, the music executive is confronting federal charges related to a racketeering and sex trafficking operation. Mr. Combs has refuted all accusations, including this most recent one. A spokesperson informed the BBC on Tuesday that he “firmly denies these serious allegations” in the new lawsuit and “remains confident they will ultimately be proven baseless”. According to the lawsuit, Ms. Bongolan recounts spending the night at Ms. Ventura’s apartment when Mr. Combs began yelling and pounding on the entrance door. Upon entering the residence, Mr. Combs reportedly confronted Ms. Bongolan, who was then situated on the balcony. The legal document asserts that he allegedly seized and molested her. Subsequently, he reportedly lifted her and began suspending her from the apartment’s balcony, the lawsuit claims. At the time of this occurrence, Ms. Bongolan’s weight was approximately 100lb (45.3 kg), as per the lawsuit. It further states that Ms. Bongolan “attempted to resist him, throwing her weight back in a desperate struggle to avoid being thrown to the ground and likely to her death,” but Mr. Combs “easily overpowered her.” The legal filing indicates that Ms. Ventura emerged to intervene, and Mr. Combs purportedly retrieved Ms. Bongolan from over the edge by forcibly placing her onto patio furniture. A spokesperson for the rapper refuted these allegations in a statement provided to the BBC on Tuesday. The statement reads, “Anyone has the right to file a lawsuit, regardless of the evidence they may or may not have,” and further asserts that Mr. Combs “has unwavering faith in the facts and in the fairness of the judicial process.” It concludes: “In court, the truth will come to light, demonstrating that the claims against Mr Combs are without merit.” According to the suit, Ms. Bongolan asserts that she was unaware, and remains unaware, of what prompted the alleged event. She is pursuing $10m (£7.89m) in compensation from the rapper. Within the lawsuit, Ms. Bongolan contended that the incident represented a “culmination of a series of threats, intimidation and violence that coloured many of Ms Bongolan’s interactions with Mr Combs from the day she met him.” These claims bear resemblance to an occurrence detailed in a distinct lawsuit brought by Ms. Ventura against Mr. Combs. That particular lawsuit, filed in 2023 and resolved the following day, included accusations of abuse, rape, and sex trafficking. It specifically mentioned an event at Ms. Ventura’s apartment where Mr. Combs “picked up one of Ms Ventura’s friends like a child and dangled the friend over the balcony.” Ms. Bongolan further alleges that she experienced “terror and abuse” from Mr. Combs during their professional association, which commenced when the music executive sought her collaboration on ventures like a clothing line and album cover artwork. Mr. Combs is currently incarcerated at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York, following a judge’s denial of bail on three separate occasions.
