An English meat processing company has received approval for a multi-million pound expansion project in Scotland. Shropshire-based Pickstock secured planning permission to construct an abattoir situated near Ecclefechan in Dumfries and Galloway, adjacent to the A74(M). According to the company, this initiative is projected to generate up to 60 full-time employment opportunities and shorten the transit duration for animals presently transported to its Telford facility. The planning committee of Dumfries and Galloway Council endorsed the project, following the recommendations put forth by its officers.
