Olympic medalists Jack Carlin and Neah Evans, along with Paralympic champions Fin Graham and Jenny Holl, are among the individuals nominated for the primary accolades at this year’s Scottish Cycling Awards. Mountain biker Heather Wilson and road cyclist Oscar Onley will complete the list of contenders for the male and female rider of the year prizes at the event scheduled for Saturday. Carlin secured a team sprint silver and a sprint bronze in Paris, bringing his total Games medal count to four and positioning him as the third most decorated Scottish Olympian. Evans departed France with a madison silver, having previously earned a team pursuit silver in Tokyo. Meanwhile, Graham claimed road race gold and individual pursuit silver at the Paralympics. Holl, acting as a pilot, guided Sophie Unwin to gold in the individual pursuit and road race, silver in the road time trial, and bronze in the same event on track. Wilson achieved a series of victories on the UCI Mountain Bike World Series, while Onley delivered impressive performances in the Tour de France and the UCI Road World Championships. Carlin, who this week visited his former school in Paisley to launch Scottish Cycling’s Sprint Start programme, a talent identification initiative aimed at uncovering the next generation of track cyclists, remarked, “To be nominated is a privilege.” He further commented, “It’s been a rollercoaster of a year and I’m up against some strong riders in Fin and Oscar, and there’s people who haven’t even been nominated, such as Charlie Aldridge. It just shows the level Scottish Cycling is at.” Post navigation Lexi Thompson’s Career Finale Underscores Broader Issues in Women’s Golf Coverage Solanke Highlights Second-Half Turnaround in Tottenham Victory
