Scotland’s newly appointed captain, Sione Tuipulotu, has committed to a three-year contract extension with Glasgow Warriors, expressing his relief at the decision. The Australia-born centre, who joined the club in the summer of 2021, played a crucial role in the Warriors’ successful campaign last season, which saw them win the United Rugby Championship title. The 27-year-old was recently named Scotland captain for the Autumn Nations Series, commencing his leadership with a decisive 57-17 victory over Fiji on Saturday. This match marked his 27th international appearance, qualifying for Scotland through his grandmother, who was born in Greenock. Speaking to the club website, Tuipulotu stated, “My biggest emotion is that I’m relieved to be staying.” He further added, “Whenever I get into contract negotiations, there’s so much noise around, so I’m delighted to be able to put pen to paper.” Tuipulotu expressed his contentment in Glasgow, saying, “I’m really happy in Glasgow and there are things that I want to achieve – and need to achieve – in the next three years here that I can’t wait to get stuck into.” He concluded by emphasizing his commitment to the team’s progress: “I just want to keep driving forward with this group. We’re all hungry for more, and I’m keen to do my part in bringing more silverware back to Scotstoun.” Post navigation Kilmarnock Supporters Share Views on Draw with Dundee Kyle Vassell Expresses Relief After Breaking Goal Drought
