A number of educational institutions in the West region have ceased operations for the day due to disturbances caused by recent snowfall. Residents in Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, and Bristol observed snow falling during the early morning hours of Tuesday, with additional snowfall anticipated throughout the afternoon. Chipping Campden School declared its closure, citing “adverse weather and road conditions”. Similarly, Abbey View School in Tewkesbury also closed, attributing its decision to a lack of indoor heating. According to BBC Weather, temperatures throughout the region have been registered between -3°C (27F) and 3°C (37F). While overall road disruption remains minor, instances of queuing traffic have been noted on the A40 westbound, the A46 Shurdington Road near Moorend Park Road, and the A417 southbound. To the south, inhabitants of Bristol and North Somerset observed a light accumulation of snow during the morning hours. In contrast to Gloucestershire, no weather-related disruptions were reported in these areas. Bristol City Council announced the activation of its Severe Weather Emergency Protocol, effective until Friday 22 November. This measure ensures that individuals experiencing homelessness can access emergency shelter throughout the period of cold weather.
