A series of overnight road closures will be implemented near the Herefordshire-Shropshire border as part of efforts to enhance safety along a section of the A49. National Highways announced plans to replace existing road signs, aiming to improve driver awareness of bends and junctions, in addition to renewing road markings and bollards, and resurfacing the carriageway at Dinmore Hill. These improvements are scheduled to occur in distinct phases, commencing north of Ross-on-Wye on 18 November and concluding near Hope under Dinmore on 19 March. Operations will be conducted during nighttime hours to minimize inconvenience and will be temporarily halted during the Christmas period. Project manager Thomas Williams stated that executing the work in stages is intended to lessen its impact on local residents. He further commented, “We will also make every effort to manage noise levels and limit lighting.” Detour routes will be established and clearly marked for motorists during these closures, which are scheduled from Monday to Friday, between 20:00 and 06:00 GMT.
