North Yorkshire Police have confirmed that a group of women has now settled their £174 outstanding bill, six weeks after leaving a Scarborough seafood restaurant without payment. The four individuals had eaten at Lookout on the Pier on September 15, consuming items such as wine bottles, oysters, and tapas. Their departure without paying the bill led to a public appeal, including the release of CCTV footage, to identify them. Gillian Partridge, the owner of the restaurant, stated that the outstanding amount was deposited into her account on Friday, confirming the resolution of the issue. Ms. Partridge expressed gratitude to the community for their assistance, remarking: “It has been very touching.” She recounted an instance where a woman, accompanied by two young children, visited the establishment to donate £10 after learning of the situation, stating: “The money will be going to charity but it was lovely.” North Yorkshire Police verified that no legal proceedings would be initiated, as requested by the victim, given that the payment had been recovered. Ms. Partridge also noted that patrons had shown strong support for the business, which had been “busier since.” She further shared: “Our chef told me we had 490 hits on our website the other day,” adding, “The staff are happy that everything has been sorted. “Hopefully the attention this got will make people like them [the women] think again.””
