Sam Parker, a promising player for Swansea City, has experienced a further delay in his recovery from injury following a recent setback in his efforts to regain full fitness. The 18-year-old, considered an impressive prospect, had attracted interest from several top-level clubs prior to signing a new long-term contract in August. However, since making his first-team debut last December, Parker’s development has been impeded by injuries. The academy graduate participated in three senior matches before a serious hamstring injury forced him out of play, concluding his season. The player, who can operate as a right-back or right-sided midfielder, had rejoined the club’s Under-21 squad before re-entering rehabilitation. According to manager Luke Williams, he is still at least two weeks away from resuming training due to a newly disclosed issue. Williams stated, “He continues to rehabilitate. He is at least two weeks more before we can start to thinking about him training. He had a setback. That’s very unfortunate, it’s something that happens often with players when they are trying to push really hard to get back to full training.” In more positive injury news for Williams, goalkeeper Andy Fisher has returned to training. The 26-year-old sustained a groin injury during pre-season that necessitated surgery, but Williams commented, “He is training well and very close to being available.” Lawrence Vigouroux has become Swansea’s primary goalkeeper this season, with Jon McLaughlin, formerly of Rangers, serving as a back-up during Fisher’s recovery.
