A coach terminal has resumed operations after being closed for refurbishment for nearly a year. Salisbury Coach Park, situated on Mill Stream Approach, initially ceased service in early January, with an anticipated four-month completion period, to facilitate necessary repairs to its drainage system, lighting, and various other amenities. However, several complications, including adverse weather conditions and a sewage leak, caused delays in the project’s finalization. Councillor Tamara Reay, Wiltshire Council’s cabinet member for transport, stated: “We are delighted the coach park works have been finished to such a high standard offering a great first impression for people visiting Salisbury.” She further commented: “It is important we provide high quality facilities for coaches and passengers eager to explore our historic medieval city.” Furthermore, the upgrade project incorporated the integration of a compact park, a designated seating area for waiting, a newly constructed footbridge, and enhanced restroom amenities. The work was carried out collaboratively by the Environment Agency, Wiltshire Council, and Salisbury City Council as an element of the broader River Park Project, an initiative designed to mitigate flood hazards within the urban area. Ron Curtis, the Environment Agency’s Wessex area flood risk manager, commented: “Alongside the benefits it will bring to visitors to Salisbury, it will help reduce flood risk and improve the water quality within the River Avon. “We look forward to now seeing the remaining elements of work completed in the other parts of the River Park scheme.” Information regarding BBC Wiltshire is available on Facebook, X, and Instagram.
