An internal awards ceremony recently acknowledged employees of the Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust for their “incredible” contributions. These staff awards, according to the Trust, highlighted individuals who demonstrated commitment, kindness, and teamwork, making a notable impact on their teams and patients through their daily efforts. The event, held on 22 November at the Harbour Hotel in Guildford, saw nominations submitted by both colleagues and patients. Joss Bigmore, the Trust’s chair, commented: “We’re such a busy organisation, we don’t get enough time to reflect on the incredible feats that are achieved every day by our staff, but this event enables us to do that.” The accolades included two Patients’ Choice awards, for which nominations were submitted by families and carers who had experienced exceptional support from specific staff members. Dr. Maja Kaladjiska, an emergency services professional, received the individual Patients’ Choice award, recognized for her compassion, professionalism, and medical expertise, particularly in her treatment of a patient with autism. Clandon Ward, the Trust’s specialized head, neck, and surgical unit, was presented with the Patients’ Choice team award. Louise Stead, the Trust’s chief executive, expressed that upon reviewing the nominations, she “felt incredibly proud of the people and teams we have at Royal Surrey”.
