Plymouth Argyle’s head coach, Wayne Rooney, has expressed that both he and the club stand to gain from the expertise of Mike Phelan. Phelan, previously an assistant manager at Manchester United, has joined Argyle as Rooney’s second-in-command, following Pete Shuttleworth’s departure from the club due to personal reasons. Rooney indicated that he personally sought to bring in Phelan, whose career also includes managing Hull City and coaching stints at Blackpool and Norwich City. During their shared time at Old Trafford, Phelan coached Rooney and contributed to United securing three Premier League titles, a Fifa Club World Cup, two League Cups, and reaching two Champions League finals. “He’s got a massive amount of experience, he knows the game really well, he’s managed at this level as well,” Rooney informed BBC Radio Devon. “I think he’ll bring great experience to us as a coaching staff.” “He’s calm and calculated in how he works, which I know very well.” “He was my coach at Manchester United, so I know how he works really well and I think he’ll fit in really well with the coaches we’ve already got.” Post navigation Gary O’Neil’s Tenure at Wolves Concludes Amidst Performance and Disciplinary Challenges Spurs’ High-Stakes Approach Under Ange Postecoglou
