A vehicle involved in an accident has been removed after serving as a “five-star attraction” by the roadside, where it had rested on its crumpled side for two months. The blue Vauxhall Grandland, positioned precariously, gained considerable recognition among both residents and visitors, accumulating numerous positive, often humorous, reviews. Nottinghamshire Police confirmed that the car had been situated alongside the A617, specifically between Kirklington and Bilsthorpe, since 10 September. Councillor Ian Woolridge of Kirklington informed the BBC that discussions had taken place regarding the installation of a Blue Plaque as a “mark of remembrance.” “But we’ll just have to make do with the police tickertape that remains,” he commented. Miranda Foley, 52, noted that the vehicle’s transformation into an attraction had “caused quite a lot of laughter” over recent weeks. “I drove past it in my daily life quite frequently,” she stated. “It’s brilliant that someone’s made a joke of it.” Conversely, its removal is expected to be a minor disappointment for another local resident, Marie Smith. Ms. Smith had previously expressed a wish for the car to remain until Christmas, anticipating a celebrity lights switch-on event. Her aspiration, including the hope for TV presenter Jeremy Clarkson’s invitation, appears to have been unfulfilled.
