Cumberland Council has called on motorists to observe road closure signs following an incident where a worker sustained injuries after being struck by a lorry. The council stated that the driver had “ignored clearly marked” signs at the Sebergham Bridge site, situated near Carlisle. The local authority commented, “This reckless act is completely unacceptable and emphasises the critical need for drivers to follow road safety protocols during roadworks.” Cumbria Police confirmed they responded to a report of an assault after the worker fell and injured his hand around lunchtime on 18 November. No arrests have been made in connection with the incident. At the time of the incident, Sebergham Bridge was closed for ongoing repairs to its parapet wall. The local authority confirmed that the worker, a member of the council’s highways team, has since recovered from his injuries and returned to work. The council also stated that “any form of abusive behaviour” would lead to appropriate legal action. It further added, “The public are urged to respect all road closure measures and treat staff with respect.” Post navigation Fatal Shooting at Wisconsin Christian School Involves Female Student Attacker Police officers dismissed following offensive WhatsApp group messages
