Richard Kone, a striker for Wycombe Wanderers, has signed a contract extension with the League One leaders. He has maintained strong performance since scoring on the opening day of the season. The 21-year-old joined the Chairboys in January, having arrived from non-league club Athletic Newham after a trial period of several months. He recorded four goals last season, and has already achieved 10 goals in the current campaign, which includes a hat-trick against Peterborough United. Matt Broomfield, the team’s boss, stated, “Rich has had a superb start to life as a professional footballer this year and he has huge potential to kick on and have a really successful career in the game.” Broomfield also stated, “It’s been a long road from identifying Rich as a really exciting potential signing a couple of years ago to bringing him here in January, and credit has to go to everyone who’s helped develop him on the training pitch, improve his fitness and physicality, and also help him settle and integrate into life in professional football.” The specific duration of Kone’s new agreement has not been revealed. Wycombe currently holds a two-point advantage over Birmingham City at the top of the table, prior to their Saturday trip to Lincoln City.
