A commencement date has been established for the renovation project at the Museum of Farnham in Surrey. Waverley Borough Council announced that scaffolding and a temporary roof would be erected around Willmer House starting 6 January 2025. The scope of work includes the restoration of the brickwork and windows, with completion anticipated in early 2026. The museum is slated to remain operational while the work is underway. The council stated its aim to restore the timber sash windows, which date back to 1718. Additionally, modern paintwork will be removed from the windowsills and the entrance door to reveal the original Portland stone. The guttering and drains are also scheduled for cleaning and repair. Funding for this project has been secured from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, Arts Council England, Waverley Borough Council, Farnham Town Council, and the Farnham and District Museum Society. Kika Mirylees, Waverley Borough Council’s portfolio holder for community services, leisure and equality, diversity and inclusion, commented: “We are so happy that this work is now starting and that the historic integrity of this beautiful building will be preserved for the community.” She added, “This project is a testament to our dedication to maintaining our heritage sites for future generations and we are working hard with partners to ensure any disruption to the local community is kept to a minimum.” Post navigation Bristol’s Pre-Christmas Snapshot: A Citywide Overview Leicester Hosts Diwali Festivities
