A warehouse severely damaged by fire is set to be returned to its original function after proposals received approval from Bradford Council. The significant blaze that engulfed the structure on Annison Street in 2021 was among the largest in West Yorkshire that year, necessitating the evacuation of approximately 30 residences while emergency services addressed it. The approved plans encompass repairing the existing ground floor and reconstructing the first floor, with the edifice slated for renewed storage purposes. A council spokesperson stated: “Restoring the building from its current state will see a marked improvement in terms of visual amenity for both the host property and wider street scene.” The cause of the fire, which occurred in January 2021, was determined to be an electrical fault. West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service dispatched 14 fire engines to the location, leaving the building as a roofless shell. The application for planning permission to restore the building was submitted to the local authority by Hardeep Singh Saini. Planning officers have now granted approval for the building’s renovation, according to information from the Local Democracy Reporting Service.
