The remains of Harshita Brella, discovered in a vehicle’s trunk in east London, are scheduled for repatriation to India this weekend. Authorities suspect the 24-year-old was fatally strangled in Corby, Northamptonshire, on 10 November, and have identified her 23-year-old husband, Pankaj Lamba, as the primary suspect in the ongoing murder inquiry. Personal effects of sentimental value belonging to Ms Brella will also be dispatched to her family to assist with funeral preparations. Detective Chief Inspector Johnny Campbell of the East Midlands major crime unit stated: “We have worked together with Harshita’s family to arrange for her body to be repatriated to her family home this weekend.” Law enforcement personnel visited Ms Brella’s residence at Skegness Walk, Corby, on 13 November after receiving reports regarding her well-being. When she was not found, an inquiry into her disappearance commenced, culminating in the discovery of her remains inside the trunk of a vehicle on Brisbane Road, Ilford. An autopsy subsequently confirmed that her death resulted from strangulation. Authorities have since disseminated photographs depicting Mr Lamba in the vicinity of Ilford, as well as images of the couple near Corby’s boating lake. Ms Brella had previously experienced domestic violence and was issued a Domestic Violence Protection Order (DVPO) in September. Northamptonshire Police has self-referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) due to its prior interactions with her. Investigators believe Mr Lamba may have departed the country, initiating an international search operation that remains active.
