A section of a promenade is scheduled for repair following its sudden collapse. The seafront pathway in Seaham, County Durham, sustained damage during Wednesday night. Durham County Council closed a portion of the promenade to allow for investigations. The authority indicated that the damage was “very localised” and that repair work would commence from Monday. The southern segment of the promenade, located between the steps to North Road and Featherbed rocks, will remain inaccessible while the work is being carried out. A council spokesman stated: “The rest of the promenade and all pedestrian access points will remain open, however the public should be aware of heavy plant and machinery travelling along the promenade for short periods during the day.”
