This weekend, communities throughout Sussex are set to observe Remembrance Sunday, commemorating individuals who died in conflicts. Gatherings are anticipated at war memorials across the county, where ceremonies will feature the laying of wreaths and moments of silence to honor the fallen. Additionally, various towns and villages will host their customary annual parades, concluding with services at local churches. A compilation of some of this year’s scheduled events has been prepared. Prior to Remembrance Sunday, a concert is planned for Saturday evening in Littlehampton, dedicated to honoring those who perished in the two World Wars and other conflicts. The Edwin James Festival Orchestra is scheduled to perform at Littlehampton United Church on High Street, commencing at 19:30 GMT, with proceeds benefiting the Royal British Legion. On Sunday, numerous services and parades are slated to take place throughout Brighton and Hove. The Royal Sussex Regimental Association Remembrance Service is set to commence at 09:00 GMT at the Royal Sussex Regiment Memorial in Regency Square, Brighton. The Brighton Parade and Service will begin at 10:50 GMT, concluding with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Brighton War Memorial. In Hove, a brief service and official wreath laying will start at 14:30 GMT at the War Memorial, followed by a march past, a salute, and a parade leading to All Saints Church for the civic memorial service. Lewes Town Council will conduct a remembrance parade, starting from the upper end of High Street around 14:30 GMT, proceeding to the War Memorial for a wreath-laying ceremony. A church service at St Michael’s Church is scheduled to follow at 15:00. East Grinstead is scheduled to host a brief service at East Court, commencing at 10:00 GMT, prior to the main parade’s departure from the Post Office on London Road at 10:40. The primary service will be conducted at the War Memorial, with musical accompaniment provided by St Swithun’s choir. The Southwick Veterans Hub is organizing a parade that will proceed from The Romans pub to the Southwick Green Memorial. This procession will include a marching band, veterans, military vehicles, and local motorbike and scooter clubs from Bognor and Brighton.
