Public identification cards are once again available, following a brief period of unavailability. The Youth Commission announced that the Bailiwick of Guernsey ID cards have undergone “modernisation” and expressed satisfaction in making the service available again. According to the charity, the card has received approval from local travel operators for use when traveling to other Channel Islands or destinations within the UK. The cost of the card is £10 for individuals under 18 years old, and £15 for those aged 18 and above. The Youth Commission stated: “The application process follows similar vetting procedures as applying for a driving licence, so it is best to speak to someone at the Youth Commission to find out what is required to get a card printed.”Whilst the card is not formally recognised for proof of identity or age, there are various groups around the island who will accept The Bailiwick of Guernsey ID Card for this purpose. “The ID cards are much sought after and often used. Please note any cards in the old style are still valid until their expiry date.”
