Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jr is set to miss the club’s Champions League fixture against Liverpool due to a hamstring injury. Spanish reports indicate that he may be sidelined for a period of three to four weeks. The Brazilian international participated in the entirety of Real Madrid’s 3-0 La Liga victory over Leganes on Sunday. Real Madrid, currently positioned 18th in the 36-team Champions League standings, is scheduled to visit Anfield on Wednesday to compete against Liverpool, who lead the table. The La Liga team announced a 19-player squad for the journey to Merseyside, with Vinicius Jr absent following “an injury to the biceps femoris in his left leg”. Spanish newspaper Marca, external, suggests the Brazil international could face approximately three weeks on the sidelines; however, Madrid has not provided any comments regarding the extent of the injury. After Madrid’s official statement, Vinicius Jr posted on X: “Crazy calendar. Time to recover.” Meanwhile, Liverpool is not expected to have defender Trent Alexander-Arnold available for the match at Anfield against the 15-time European Cup champions. The England right-back was absent from Sunday’s 3-2 triumph over Southampton due to a hamstring injury incurred prior to the international break.
