Queen Camilla is set to resume her public engagements on Tuesday, following a chest infection, though her schedule will undergo some modifications. The 77-year-old Queen had canceled several commitments a week prior, acting on medical advice to rest, and was absent from Remembrance Sunday events over the weekend. Her attendance at London events this week will be for durations shorter than initially scheduled. Furthermore, she will not be present at the premiere of the forthcoming film Gladiator II on Wednesday evening. It has been indicated that there is no reason for concern, and her arrangements are being modified to prevent any relapse after her recovery from the illness. On Tuesday, the Queen is scheduled to host a reception at Clarence House to honor the authors nominated for this year’s Booker Prize, but her interaction with guests will be for a reduced duration compared to what was planned. Additionally, she will still participate in a Palace reception alongside the King on Wednesday, commemorating the TV and film industry, though her presence is not anticipated for the entirety of the occasion. The King, however, will proceed with his attendance at all scheduled events, including the Gladiator II premiere, as originally planned. The Queen’s chest infection manifested less than a week after her return from a journey to Australia and Samoa with the King, a trip that involved a stopover in India during the return leg. Last week, when announcing the infection, Buckingham Palace stated: “Her Majesty The Queen is currently unwell with a chest infection, for which her doctors have advised a short period of rest.” The Palace also conveyed that she had canceled her engagements “with great regret”. In February 2023, the Queen had previously missed a week of engagements due to ill health after testing positive for Covid. This marked the second instance of her contracting the virus, having first experienced it in February 2022. The health of the Royal Family has faced challenges this year. King Charles was diagnosed with cancer in February. His treatment had been temporarily halted during his overseas travel but was anticipated to recommence upon his return to the UK. Concurrently, the Princess of Wales is progressively resuming her public responsibilities after undergoing cancer treatment earlier in the year. She participated alongside Prince William and other members of the Royal Family in a Remembrance concert at the Royal Albert Hall on Saturday night, marking her initial significant formal appearance since completing chemotherapy. She was also present at Remembrance Sunday events. Copyright 2024 BBC. All rights reserved. The BBC bears no responsibility for the content found on external websites.
