The Sheffield-based band Pulp is scheduled to headline the inaugural evening of the Tramlines music festival next summer. The Britpop group, fronted by Jarvis Cocker, acknowledged that it had “taken a while for the stars to align” for their first appearance at the festival in their home city. The performers, known for “Common People,” are set to appear on the Main Stage on the festival’s opening night. The event will take place from Friday, July 25, to Sunday, July 27, at Hillsborough Park. Other significant acts confirmed for next year’s 16th Tramlines festival include Rotherham indie band The Reytons and Leicester rockers Kasabian. Pulp will also be responsible for curating the other acts performing on the Main Stage on Friday. Nick Banks, the band’s drummer, informed the BBC: “It’s taken a while for the stars to align but I love Tramlines.” He added: “I think it’s an amazing festival and it’ll be great to be able to get up on the stage and show them how it’s done.” Timm Cleasby, Tramlines operations director, stated: “It’s absolutely massive to have Pulp headlining Friday, and even more special to have them curating the whole day – it’s a real celebration of what Sheffield’s all about.” Formed in 1978, Pulp performed extensively around Sheffield at venues such as The Leadmill and The Limit before gaining widespread recognition in the 1990s with hit singles including “Disco 2000” and “Mis-Shapes.” Their debut at Tramlines follows the band’s reformation in 2023 for a reunion tour, which featured two triumphant homecoming gigs at Sheffield Arena. Pulp’s selections to join them on the Main Stage include the indie band Spiritualized and the Paris-based indie-folk trio Oracle Sisters. The Reytons achieved their first ever UK number one album in 2023 with their self-released work, “What’s Rock And Roll.” They are scheduled to headline the Main Stage on Saturday. Other notable acts performing throughout the weekend will be Franz Ferdinand, Rizzle Kicks, The Last Dinner Party, Sigrid, Scouting For Girls, and Jake Bugg, with Kasabian headlining the final night. Confirmed artists for Tramlines 2025: Friday Saturday Sunday Pre-sale tickets for weekend and day passes will be available from 18:00 GMT on Thursday, with general sale commencing at 12:00 GMT on Friday.
