A homelessness charity experienced a rapid replacement of its stolen supplies, prompted by significant public support in the wake of a recent burglary. The incident occurred at a lock-up warehouse utilized by The Whitechapel Centre, located in Liverpool city centre, sometime between 17:00 GMT on Friday and 08:15 on Monday. During the raid, donated provisions including food, toiletries, and clothing, which were designated for individuals experiencing poverty, were stolen. Dave Carter, the chief executive, stated that an “amazing” public response from Liverpool residents enabled the charity to distribute over 900 special Christmas packages. Mr. Carter noted that volunteers had worked quickly to replenish the supplies. He also expressed being “blown away” by members of the public arriving with “bags of goodies.” Mr. Carter further commented, “The response [during] the last 24 hours has just been amazing. It’s from the smallest donation to the biggest donations, it doesn’t matter. Liverpool does us proud, doesn’t it?” He reported that burglars damaged the shutters and “trashed the place” upon forcing entry into the Blackstock Street lock-up. Ch Insp Charlotte Irlam of Merseyside Police commented, “Business burglaries are not victimless crimes but for people to choose to target a warehouse which collects items for the city’s homeless, and in particular just before Christmas, is particularly contemptible.” Post navigation Northumbria Police Operation Collects Over 400 Knives Harrow Council Rescinds £1,000 Fly-Tipping Fine Issued to Five-Year-Old
