Residents and stakeholders are invited to identify locations within Brighton suitable for prospective development projects. This invitation forms a component of the Brighton and Hove City Council’s City Plan 2041 public consultation, which concludes on 20 January. According to Liz Loughran, who chairs the planning committee for Brighton and Hove City Council, “We are a growing city and we need to make sure there is enough land identified for new homes and workspaces, community facilities and tourism, and sites that can improve biodiversity.” Past initiatives to solicit site proposals led to projects such as the transformation of the former Astoria building in Gloucester Place into the Rox Brighton apartments, and the residential scheme at the former Dairy Crest site in The Droveway, Hove. Individuals can submit fresh proposals via the dedicated consultation website. Ms Loughran expressed her hope, stating: “I hope that both residents and our local developer community will come forward with suggestions that could provide the basis for more new homes and facilities in future.” BBC Sussex can be followed on Facebook, X, and Instagram.
