The public has received an invitation to attend a hearing concerning the planning brief for Guernsey’s east coast. This Local Planning Brief details potential development opportunities within the St Peter Port and St Sampson Harbour Action Areas. This hearing constitutes the most recent phase of an independent planning inquiry, a necessary step before the States can determine whether to adopt the brief as an amendment to the Island Development Plan. The public session is scheduled for 10 December at 10:00 GMT, at Les Cotils. According to Deputy Victoria Oliver, who serves as president of the development and planning authority, “Although this doesn’t prescribe what specific developments will come forward and what they might look like, this provides the necessary foundations for the right type of investment in our harbours for the next 10 years.” She further noted that attendance at the hearing is open to everyone, however, only the eight parties who have submitted formal representations will be permitted to speak.
