The local community is being asked to contribute to the development of a multi-million pound family attraction scheduled to open in Scunthorpe next spring. North Lincolnshire Council announced that Discover@2021, situated at the former St John’s Church, will incorporate a suspended dome designed to showcase creations by children and teenagers. Council leader Rob Waltham stated that the local authority aims to gather feedback from “our young visitors and their families about what hands-on activities they want to see”. He further commented, “This is their space and by working together we can make sure Discover is a fun, inspiring place for all.” Discover is planned to include various interactive stations where children can apply their science, technology, engineering, art and maths skills to manipulate giant levers and solve puzzles. Subsequently, their creations will be projected onto the dome and other designated projection surfaces within the venue. The council is collaborating with The Creative Core, a Yorkshire-based firm specializing in visitor experience design, on these plans. Individuals wishing to submit ideas and provide their input can complete an online survey.
